There’s some big sports ball event going on this Sunday, February 9, and creatives from The Monkey, an adaptation of Stephen King’s short story of the same name, are teaming up with the Dead Meat YouTube channel—a corner of the internet that celebrates all things horror—to bring us a violent and bloody half-time experience.

The crew hosting the event include The Monkey writer-director Osgood Perkins and actor Elijah Wood, who has a part in the film. On the Dead Meat side, hosts James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca will provide commentary during the event along with Perkins and Wood, John Madden-style.

What exactly will they be commenting on? Apparently they will be doing play-by-play breakdowns of various horror scenes over the past year. What films they’ll be talking about is also unknown, but odds are good that Perkins’ previous film, Longlegs, will make an appearance. It will air on Dead Meat Present’s YouTube channel live on Sunday, February 9, during the Super Bowl Halftime show.

And all of this, of course, is a lead up for The Monkey bashing its way into theaters. That film features Wood and stars Theo James playing twin brothers who have a toy monkey haunt their family by murdering people wherever it goes. We’ll get to see that monkey do some maiming when the Neon film will premieres on February 21, 2025. icon-paragraph-end
